TV-Links Shut Down!!

TV-links.co.uk, the UK's most used piracy film website has been closed down and its owner arrested after a raid by the anti-piracy group, Federation Against Copyright Theft (Fact).

The closure was a first for major UK-based pirate sites and the owner, a 26-year-old man from Cheltenham, was arrested for charges relating to facilitating copyright infringement over the internet.

FACT claims that the site was providing links to pirated films as well as American TV shows.


"Sites such as TV Links contribute to and profit from copyright infringement by identifying, posting, organising, and indexing links to infringing content found on the internet that users can then view on demand by visiting these illegal sites," said a spokesman for FACT.

Kieron Sharp, director general of FACT said the site was just the first of what they hope will be a successful campaign to crackdown on piracy over the internet.

"The theft and distribution of films harms the livelihoods of those working in the UK film industry and in ancillary industries, as well as damaging the economy," he said.

The British Video Association (BVA) has stated that piracy caused an estimated £459 million in losses to the video, film and TV industries last year.

Review: Ratatouille

Anyone that knows me, knows my love for Disney. Pixar is what is holding Disney cartoons together. Lately Disney has just been putting out nothing but terrible half assed cartoons, and direct to video sequels to their classics. Which were terrible as well. But every year or two, Pixar comes along and shows what Disney has to offer. Ratatouille is the new Pixar pic on the block. And it, like all others before, pleases and entertains me.


This ranks pretty high up there too, Cars, Finding Nemo, A Bugs Life were all good, but not as awesome as the likes of Toy Story and The Incredibles. Ratatouille ranks somewhere in between the two. I mean don't get me wrong, being in the middle of Toy Story and Finding Nemo is a great place to be. It just didn't have the awesome factor going for it that The Incredibles did.

Ratatouille is a story about a boy, and his rat. It seems to me that the writer and director, Brad Bird, basically rewrote the movie Willard into a kids cartoon. And hey it works! The rat loves to cook, and the boy has no idea how to, and he works in a kitchen of one of the most famous places to eat in Paris. One day the rat is cooking up and is caught by the boy, and all think the boy is responsible for cooking up this great meal, and now he is forced from being the garbage boy, to being a cook. Since he has no idea how to, he hides the rat inside of his huge chefs hat, and the rat basically controls the boy like a puppet, by tugging his hair, he is able to whip up the best tasting food in Paris. Of course there are other factors in the movie, Remys, the rats, family is against this, because they believe all humans are the enemy and want all rats dead. And of course the boys love interest, the fellow cook in the kitchen.

And of course, this plays out like you would expect it, people find out about the rat, boy and rat have a falling out, boy and girl have a falling out. There is the evil head chef, and the very picky and mean food critic that comes along. But it is still another great Pixar movie. Not as great as Brad Birds last movie, The Incredibles, which definatley needs a sequel. But this movie is definatley up there. I would give this a 4 out of 5 stars. I liked it alot more than Cars, and liked it alot more then Finding Nemo. And of course any kid in the world will go nuts for this movie, as well as adults. This is a pretty short review mainly because well, I am short on time, and also, its a Disney Pixar movie and you pretty much know what you are going to get when you go see it, which is greatness. And I highly recommend you to check this out if you are a Disney Pixar fan on June 29th.

Help Wanted - Hollywood

20th Century Fox is turning The Sims into a live action film. Brian Lynch (Scary Movie 3) will write the script. No other details are known.

Rod Humble, head of Sims Studio, told Variety, "The Sims has done an interactive version of an old story, which is what it's like to have infinite power and how do you deal with it. Given that that's an old story, you can imagine how easily that would translate to traditional story telling."

That's right, you read correctly. The Sims, a game about absolutely nothing is now going to be made into a movie. From the sounds of it, a rip-off of Bruce Almighty. Nearly every video game license has been snatched up for movie form so it was only a matter of time before one of the most popular PC games of all time got the Hollywood treatment.

Video games have always made great movies. From Mario Brothers to Mortal Kombat to Whatever the hell that movie was about the scary town and the lost girl that made no fucking sense, they've all been classics. It's perfectly plausible for Hollywood to make a move about a game where goals include not crapping on yourself and building the perfect living room.

This completely ignorant movie choice leads the path to what could be a great awakening in cinema. Now that Hollywood has made sequels to every dead franchise and has remade every movie ever made, then made sequels to those remakes... It's time for a new era!

I can see it now: "Coming soon to a theatre near you... George Clooney in Tetris the Movie"

Let's not forget the gut-bustin', side splittin' comedy adventure, Pong!

And of course, the sequel to The Sims, SimCity!

Call me when Animal Crossing gets a movie. In the meantime, someone, somewhere please go to Hollywood and write an original movie that's good. Please? Hurry before The Sims Livin' Large Expansion Pack The Movie hits my screens.
