R.I.P. Dom Deluise

This one makes me especially sad, as one of my most prized cookbooks was not only written by Mr. Deluise, but I was fortunate enough to meet him and get it autographed. Dom wasn't just a great chef (he often played on how much he resembled famous chef, Paul Prudhomme) but he was also a hilarious funny actor, and is most known from roles in Cannonball Run, Spaceballs, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Dom passed away in his sleep at a Los Angeles hospital on Monday night. He was 75.

First Bea Arthur, now Dom Deluise... who's next?

  1. The fact that you do not mention his role in Blazing Saddles makes me shake my head in sadness. I was also doing a post about his death but I couldn't find the damn clip from Blazing Saddles cause were blocked from god damn youtube.

  2. You're sad because he wrote your favorite cookbook? You really are a fat kid.

I agree with Random Villain though, no mention of Blazing Saddles makes you come off like a poser.

  3. Alright, everyone needs to relax or Devon will lose the motivation to write, or something. Again.

  4. Well, being that I hold a degree in Culinary Arts and enjoy cooking very much, my connection to Deluise is not necessarily the same as yours. To me, I connect with him through his recipes and the stories I've read in his books, not to mention getting to meet him. Sure, I've enjoyed his movies, but that's not the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the name Dom Deluise.

Why is that such a big deal? I can be sad about the loss of a great actor and chef, but it has to be on your terms? Bullshit.

  5. Men don't wanna read about cooking. Men don't cook, or bake. They grill.

  6. Tell that to everyone that's not Bobby Flay then.

  7. Yeah sorry I don't watch cooking shows. Remember I'm a writer for the manliest site there is, and men don't watch cooking shows.

  9. Cooking is fucking awesome. Cookbooks are fucking awesome. What's wrong with cooking? I cook. I also grill, bake, sear, roast, broil, baste, saute, fry, and eat.

Dom Deluise can sign my cookbook any day. Well, obviously he can't, bu you know. Obviously the guy knew food.
