Rumor Mill: Eddie Murphy to be The Riddler?!

The Sun is reporting that comedian Eddie Murphy has been tapped to play the character of The Riddler, in the next Christopher Nolan directed Batman movie. The role, last played by Jim Carrey in '95's Batman Forever, is of the character Edward Nigma, a disgruntled Wayne Enterprises employee, whom after a psychotic breakdown begins terrorizing Gotham City, whilst also tormenting Batman with a series of puzzles and riddles.

The story goes on to say that Nolan and co. have reached out to rising Hollywood star Shia Lebouf to take the mantle of Robin. Which if I may recall, Christian Bale said he would never be in a Batman movie with a Robin. Also, rumors are flying that Rachel Weisz has been asked to be Catwoman, but I personally think that's coming off an io9.com article the other day, in which the author begged producers to consider Weisz for the role.

Insiders also revealed to The Sun "the flick will end on a cliffhanger over whether Batman survives a blast at Wayne Towers. Nolan had been tight-lipped about the future of the Batman films after being rocked by the January death of HEATH LEDGERm whom is expected to receive a posthumous Oscar for his role as The Joker in Batman Returns."

A film insider said: “Chris wasn’t sure if he wanted to do another movie but as soon as he decided to, he got the wheels in motion. Eddie’s a fantastic addition. Everyone’s excited to see what he does as the Riddler."

Meanwhile, neither Nolan himself, or anyone at Warner Bros. have commented on this.

  1. "HEATH LEDGERm whom is expected to receive a posthumous Oscar for his role as The Joker in Batman Returns."

I find this somewhat impossible since Heath, and the character Joker are not in Batman Returns.

But I can't really get mad at Devon for that slip up, since he didn't write that slip up, HE FUCKING COPIED AND PASTED IT OFF OF THE SUN WEBSITE.

    FUCKS GOD DAMN SAKE DEVON.

  3. This is so absurd that it is funny... The movie will never do well with actors like Murphy and Labeouf in it... The riddler seems like too big of a role to cast someone that hasn't been doing well in the last tem or so years of his acting career. Had Murphy been in a role that got decent ratings (reviews of his movies: http://www.everhype.com/?utm_source=bc) he might be a better consideration for this movie.
