The Best News Ever! Eddie Murphy Retiring From Acting!

Eddie Murphy has been quoted as saying that after Meet Dave is released, we will see him in movies no more. He was quoted as saying, "I have close to fifty movies and it's like, why am I in the movies? I've done that part now. I'll go back to the stage and do standup." Which is music to my ears. This of course throws the planned Beverly Hills Cop 4 into the trash, THANK GOD. One less Brett Ratner movie in the world is a good thing. And all the movies he has lined up for after Meet Dave will more than likely also be let go and he will be recasted.

As kids, everyone remembers that one stand up comic that changed their world. For some people who are now in their 30's or 40's, it was people like George Carlin, or Richard Pryor that they would secretly listen to when their parents were nowhere to be found. As for me, it was Eddie Murphy. Eddie Murphy was the person that introduced me to the word FUCK. Me and my friends would pretend to sleep and wait for my parents to go to sleep then wake and put on Delirious, every night. Delirious and Raw were two of the funniest things I had ever seen in my life. And his early movies are still some of my favorite movies. Coming To America, Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop, 48 Hours, The Golden Child, fuck I even enjoyed Vampire In Brooklyn AND Metro! But then, Eddie got kid friendly, and his movies got worse, and worse, and worse. And the previews for Meet Dave did not seem promising at all. I had always hoped that one day Eddie Murphy would return to acting in R rated film roles. Hell I would even go for, Yet Another 48 Hours. But alas, the man that made me laugh till I cry is leaving film. But on the other hand, he is returning to the place I most loved to see him. Doing stand up comedy. Now I can switch over and hope he can be just a rude and funny and in an all new HBO special. It is sad that his film career is over, but I am happy that he is taking back the stage.

Gooney Goo Goo Eddie. Your true fans are here waiting. Bring back them leather suits!
